MacroGroup

The research group carries out basic and applied ecological research in aquatic
aquatic and wetland systems on macroscopic aquatic invertebrates.

Our basic research is carried out concerning the following specific research topics: communities
taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic diversity of communities, the
causes of changes in diversity profiles in different taxonomic, phylogenetic and taxonomic communities
spatial scales. Determining spatial and environmental factors in communities
organisation of communities in aquatic systems. Climate change-induced droughts
impact on community organisation. Investigating the role of dispersion in community
taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic composition of the community, and the
environmental factors due to climate change. Of European importance
Estimation of the distribution ranges of macroscopic aquatic invertebrate species of European importance
using different climate scenarios.

In addition, systematic and continuous zoological monitoring of the Tisza River Basin
zoological survey of the Tisza River Basin. With our baseline information, we contribute significantly to the biodiversity
knowledge on various aspects of biodiversity, which has so far made it difficult to
comprehensive analyses. Zoological mapping will greatly facilitate the identification of invasive
detection and monitoring of the emergence of invasive species.

Our applied research is mainly carried out in accordance with the Water Framework Directive. Social
of surface water is important from a societal point of view, we analyse the
individual and synergistic effects of pressures on the taxonomy of biotic communities,
functional and phylogenetic composition. For vulnerable waters
(e.g. saline and small drying waters), more effective biotic indices
to support ecological water quality assessment, enabling
to assess the ecological status of our waters, which are also important for biodiversity.
of our ecologically important waters. In urban environments, we carry out wetland monitoring,
which, in line with research activities, includes awareness-raising
research activities.
